How to set boundaries in your business - Emma Langton Episode 28
Emma, in her own words, is a straight-talking business mindset coach. In this episode, we talk about how she built her business around her family and how creating scarcity with their clients and being very mindful of her time actually helped her to grow.
After adopting her lovely girls she became aware that being able to work flexibly was going to be crucial to her new family.
Her new family journey was the catalyst to her new career as she learned more about how she could help the children she became fascinated with mindset and decided to retrain in hypnotherapy and coaching.
Emma went on to set up her own business renting a room for one day a week and niching down, specifically helping people suffering from anxiety in the workplace. She purposely niched from the beginning, building a business that worked for the family and setting boundaries from the outset.
Emma stuck to the routine of working only in specific office times and didn’t take work home with her, keeping her home life completely separate from her business so not impact the family.
Emma talks about how building scarcity into her business really worked! Only being available at certain times, as she built her business around a family, actually help the business to grow.
The structure that Emma built into her business actually became a safe space for her clients who appreciated the boundaries that she set.
- Set tight deadlines and focus on individual aspects during the day
- Don’t make a song and dance about school holidays just tell your clients you won’t be available or your diary is fully booked
- Overcome overwhelm by getting everything out of your head and down on paper
- Prioritise things you need to do first and set yourself achievable goals
- It’s okay to change your business model to work around your life as your business grows
